You can manually zoom in from a rounded bright illumination to a tight square (the light takes on the shape of the actual LED!) that will focus up to 212 yards away per specs. Although, to be honest, it’s best around the 10-50 yard range. However you need to use this, it will brighten the area around you more than sufficiently. Unless you’re doing recon for Uncle Sam, this flashlight will do everything you need it to. After my own personal tests, I’m extremely happy that it’s brighter than any of the “big” flashlights I have in my house. You know the ones I’m talking about … they’re the huge flashlights with those rectangular batteries or take 4 D-cell batteries … Well, this one beats them hands down, and uses 3 AAA batteries. And never gets hot! Note: You can use the “new” 18650 battery instead (it’s a lithium ion battery with longer life and more power); you’ll probably have to order it online.
